Pizza and pythons
We wanted calzones for dinner so I hunted down a great recipe for pizza dough, substituting whole wheat for white flour. The substitution didn’t seem to hurt the recipe but it was tough as hell to knead for ten minutes.
The calzones were great.
On another note, I’m taking this space to proclaim my intent to work through the python tutorial a little bit every day this week. I was having trouble getting motivated to work on implementing my software projects in my home language of PERL, mostly because I’ve gotten rusty but also because I learned PERL in a non object related paradigm and I would rather work in that system of design (best practice?). I’m hoping the rapid prototyping qualities of python are helpful in fleshing out some things I’ve been rolling around in this cavernous head of mine.
First step is a review of chapter 1 of the python tutorial

PV Shakedown
I’ve noticed a big increase in the amount of time renewable energy is taking up in mainstream media. With that increased focus came along the the venture capitalists and the result is a field that is rife with money and ideas and short on proven systems.
There has also been a lot more chatter about PV(solar) systems on Reddit recently as well the most recent and useful being a post by a fellow Redditor: PV buyer’s guide and a few tips from industry insider
The thread raises some interesting points, makes good suggestions, and is definitely helpful as a potential end user.
Some highlights:
- - Thin-film solar has yet to be proven
- - Industry is full of start-ups flush with VC $
- - That the industry is probably in a bubble that will collapse.
- - Efficiency and performance are not equated.
There is more but the general suggestion was of course to do your homework; not all panels are created equally. In the past there was only a few manufacturers in the field and this was less of a problem . Trust businesses with proven track records if you intend on capitalizing on the potential of a warranty.

Things are heating up
Things are starting to form on the horizon; from a hazy idea to a hazy reality. We’ve had some interesting feedback about the hospice idea and traction from the HIV community is what is required to make this end of the idea work out. Some meetings this week with agents that may be able to help us out on the networking front.
